I have seen some people do amazing things with custom and Renishaw written macros so I am sure there is a way to do this. Just jumping to the Position screen gives the PRESENT location of the probe not the probed position which of course is where it was sitting prior to the edge probing cycle so not of any real use. 500 intervals obviously as soon as I move over one I have created a trig problem. Since I am trying to walk around the edge of the plate at. I can probe them but the only result it outputs is the distance in a straight line from 0,0. The issue comes when I try to do the edges. Just a matter running the macro and then stepping out to the Position screen and writing down the coordinates for input into a CAD program later as it 'parks' in the center of the bores. Probing the centers of the bores and their relationship to each other was very easy. The reason for mentioning the brand becomes important in a minute. I have a new Doosan DNM5700 with the Renishaw OMP60 IR touch probe. Kind of a nightmare to accurately reproduce by conventional measuring. Also the shapes of the plates are filled with angles and radius and such. There are four plates and other than the 2 linear rail holes everything is different. I have a guy who is going to reverse engineer some guide plates for a local sawmill machine. First an explanation of why I want to do this.
